Terms of Service

Welcome to Belen Books (“we”, “our”, “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of belen.life and any services we provide (“Services”). By accessing or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.


1. User Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use our Services.
  • You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details.
  • You may not use another person’s account or permit unauthorized access to your own.

2. Marketplace Disclaimer (Platform Is Not the Seller)

Belen Books operates as a marketplace. We are not the owner, seller, or supplier of items listed by users or consignment partners.

  • Sellers are solely responsible for product descriptions, condition, authenticity, and pricing.
  • Transactions occur directly between buyers and sellers; Belen is not a party to these sales.
  • For consignment (C2B2C), items are stored by Belen during the consignment period.
  • For C2C items, sellers retain custody, and Belen is not responsible for item condition or storage.

3. Product Condition, Secondhand Goods & Authenticity

  • The platform primarily sells secondhand items, though new items may also be listed when clearly indicated.
  • Buyers acknowledge that secondhand items may show signs of use and should review all descriptions, photos, and videos before purchasing.
  • If a counterfeit or illegal item is discovered, buyers may request a refund; all losses are borne by the seller.
  • Illegal or infringing items will be removed immediately, and criminal matters (including stolen goods) will be reported to authorities.

4. Prohibited Items

Sellers may not list or sell:

  • Pirated or counterfeit books
  • Illegal, obscene, or banned publications
  • Replica or infringing items
  • Copyright-violating content
  • Stolen goods or items prohibited under Malaysian law

Violations may result in account suspension or reporting to authorities.


5. Listings, Transactions & User Responsibilities

  • Sellers are fully responsible for listing accuracy, condition descriptions, authenticity, and pricing.
  • Buyers must review available information before placing orders.
  • Fraud, misrepresentation, or deceptive activity is strictly prohibited.
  • Belen may assist in dispute resolution but is not obligated to mediate or compensate either party.

6. Payments and Fees

  • Payments may be made via bank transfer or approved gateways (currently Stripe).
  • A RM0.50 C2C transaction fee is currently waived.
  • Seller commissions and related fees are defined in the Seller Policy.
  • Belen may revise fee structures at any time.

7. Shipping, Risk of Loss & Handling

  • Risk of loss transfers to the buyer once the courier receives the parcel.
  • Courier errors (loss, damage, delay) are the responsibility of the courier.
  • For undisclosed defects, buyers may request returns under our Refund & Returns Policy.
  • For counterfeit or illegal items, sellers bear all financial responsibility.

9. User Conduct & Legal Compliance

  • Sellers must comply with all applicable laws, including the Secondhand Dealers Act, and may be required to provide IC or passport verification.
  • If stolen goods or illegal items are discovered, Belen will remove the listing and notify the authorities.
  • Users must not bypass platform fees, mislead others, or conduct off-platform transactions in bad faith.

11. Dispute Resolution

  • Buyers and sellers are encouraged to resolve disputes directly.
  • Belen may assist at our discretion but is not required to mediate or compensate either party.
  • Belen is not liable for losses arising from disputes between users.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts at any time for violations of these Terms or conduct harmful to the platform.


13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Belen does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the platform.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including lost sales, lost data, reputational harm, or unauthorized account use.
  • Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the platform is to discontinue using the Services.
  • Belen’s maximum aggregate liability, if any, is limited to the total fees paid to Belen (excluding product purchase amounts paid to sellers).

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.


15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
